Device safety:

Is the device safe for use in the presence of persons?

The germicidal emitter is designed for air disinfection in the presence of persons. UV-C radiation stays inside the emitter thanks to its optical shields with high permeability. Radiation does not leak out of the emitter and therefore does not harm persons in its presence. The device is safe for use by inexperienced users as it does not require any operator intervention for its operation. However, it is necessary to proceed carefully when replacing the discharge lams. Please follow the manufacturer’s manual or contact our service department that will be happy to assist you.

Is the device also suitable for a doctor’s practice or pharmacy?

Yes, the device is recommended in these places as the risk of contamination of the area with viruses is significantly higher than at your home.

Is the device suitable for a kindergarten or children’s play area?

Yes, the device is also recommended in these areas and is safe to use. Keep it out of reach of children !!!

It is a device suitable for a dental clinic?

Yes, the device is also recommended in these places and is safe to use. However, make sure to keep it away from water.

Function principle:

How does the device work?

The device uses fans to suck the air of the environment into a special chamber equipped with a UV-C germicidal light source. UV-C radiation then irradiates viruses, bacteria and fungi in the flowing air, and they are completely destroyed. This method is one of the most effective methods of disinfection. Germicidal UV-C radiation in the chamber of the lamp causes the destruction or damage to RNA and DNA. It is a photochemical process of disinfection/sterilization. There are no chemical or toxic products used in this process.

Another producer claims that an open-type emitter is suitable for households. Is it true?

An open-type emitter is commonly used in the industry and medical facilities. It has got its undeniable advantages because it radiates objects in the room directly and kills microorganisms on their surfaces. It has however got some disadvantages that are according to us of high risk for household use. These include:

  • UV-C radiation is exceptionally dangerous for skin and eyes, flowers, and actually all living organisms. The safety of the persons must be assured during the device’s operation. This is not possible to assure in a household. We do not consider using an extension cord as a solution.
  • UV-C radiation causes ageing of plastics; for example, even of your white uPVC window frames. After long-term exposure, the plastics turn yellow.

Installation and use:

How do I calculate how many devices I need?

Compare the airflow in m³ per hour of the SRSmedilux device and the competition. There are 2 most important parameters when choosing the right closed-type germicidal emitter: the wattage of the germicidal tubesand the airflow per hour. Higher parameters guarantee higher efficiency. These 2 parameters must be, of course, correctly optimized.

The calculation of the needed amount of devices for a specific space is simple. The room’s volume in m3 (width x length x height) is divided by the airflow per hour in m3 specified by the germicidal emitter. Therefore, if another manufacturer of such a device defines the airflow per hour as e.g. 10 m³, their device can filter the air in a room with an area of 4 m² and a height of 2.5 m in an hour. Mathematics and physics apply equally to everyone.

The device located in a small shop:

In a small shop, we recommend using one device in a place, where most customers are present. We can assume that it is the cash register area, where the device is permanently turned on during business hours. If you have several cash registers in a shop, we recommend using one device at each cash register for the effective protection of the cashier and the buyer.

The device located at home:

In a regular household with a wall height of around 2.5 m, where the size of rooms is up to 22 m², we recommend using one device PMX2A48 or AW48 that is located in each room for about 60 minutes, so as it disinfects the air in the room. You can then move the device to another room and perform air disinfection. In case you need to disinfect several rooms at once, use several devices.

The device located in the pharmacy:

We recommend the same as for a shop, i.e. we recommend using one device in a place, where most customers are present. We can assume that it is the cash register area, where the device is permanently turned on during business hours. If you have several cash registers in a shop, we recommend using one device at each cash register for the effective protection of the cashier and the buyer.

Does the device have to be turned on permanently in the room or is it OK to turn it on for a certain amount of time?

In areas with frequent movement of numerous people such as waiting rooms, offices, doctor’s practices, pharmacies and shops, we recommend leaving the device turned on permanently.

When using the device at home, proceed as described in section The device located at home.

Why can’t your device “protect” 300 m² of space? Your competition says their device can…

The device sucks air from the room during its operation. For the effective elimination of viruses, it is necessary to filter this air at least once every 8 hours in an area of 1-2 present people. If there are more people in the room or if it is a public space, it is necessary to filter the air several times in a short time. Therefore, for larger spaces, we recommend more devices or a special device model.

What is the lifetime of the germicidal tubes?

The lifetime of the source of the UV-C radiation is defined by the UV-C tube producer. We use Signify/Philips or OSRAM tubes in our devices. The lifetime of these tubes is 18 000 hours. In order to achieve the highest virus and bacteria-destroying efficiency, we recommend replacing the tubes already after 9000 hours. The need for tube replacement is indicated on the device.

Device noise:

Is the device really quiet?

Yes, the device is really quiet. We use special magnetically levitating fans that are very quiet. The specific noise level values can be found in the technical specification of each model.

Why is the device’s noise level important?

During its operation, the device sucks air from the room through fans that have a specific noise level. Of course, you don’t want to be disturbed by the constant noise of fans while working, watching TV or reading your favourite novel. For this reason, we have equipped the device with special fans with the quietest operation on the market. The fan guarantees a maximum noise level of 14 dB.

Comparisons:

Why should I buy your device and not a so-called air purifier for 100 Euros?

Affordable closed-type purifiers available on the market are equipped with a weak source of UV-C radiation. The types we have tested at a price level of up to 300 Euros were all equipped with UV-C discharge lamps with the maximum wattage of 30W or lower.

We, as a producer of the closed-type germicidal emitters, believe that the closed-type germicidal emitters with a wattage of 30 W or lower have very low efficiency even when they are used in small flats. For this reason, the lowest wattage of the UV-C discharge lamps in the emitters from SRSmedilux is 48 W.

Servicing:

How do I know that it is necessary to replace the discharge lamp?

The need for the discharge lamp replacement is indicated on the device.

Who will replace my discharge lamp? I don’t want to do it myself.

The lifetime of the discharge lamp is approx. 9000 hours. With an operation of 8 hours a day, you will have to replace it in more than two and a half years. If the device reports a request to replace the lamp please contact our service, and we will help you with the replacement.

Accessories and control:

Can I control the device remotely?

Yes, models AW48, CW110 and TW220 can be controlled remotely over Wi-Fi using a smartphone and TuyaSmart application.

Industrial equipment:

Models CW110 and TW220 have a high wattage of tubes (110 W and 220 W) and are aimed to be used in bigger spaces such as warehouses, cafeterias, restaurants, fitness centres and other industrials buildings.
